Sandhan valley is a part of the beautiful sahyadri mountain range and is truly a marvel of nature. It is 200 feet deep and it's brilliant narrow rock floored ravine is located between the two high walls of mountain range because of which at some places sunrays unable to reach the ground. Hence the name, "Valley of Shadows"!
Last year in 2021, I have visited this marvellous nature with small group of my crazy friends and collected best memory of my life. We travelled from Mumbai by central local train to kasara and from there one of our friend came to pick us by car. Also not to worry, because there plenty of easiest and safest mode of transportation available to reach the destination. We reached over there till evening. There's small village named Samrad base to sandhan valley. Villagers are very kind, polite, soft hearted and helpful in nature. There's space for camping near Lake with a beautiful scenic vew.
We hired local guide from the village because it is very helpful for them as well as for us. They provide proper facilities for camping such as camping tents, mats, torch lights and also serve delicious maharashtrian thali. Our thali included chapati, rice and my favourite spicy Sev bhaji.
We arranged our camp tents near Lake view had bonfire and sat around it. We played antakshari. Also some other group of trekkers joined us. Whole night we played games and shared some our old college memories.
Next early morning, we got fresh and had breakfast (Kande-pohe and tea) served by our local guide. After that, we started our trek to piece of heaven i.e. sandhan valley where we also got opportunity for rappelling. We enjoyed alot, completed our trek, captured every beautiful moments and kind-hearted interaction with people of Samrad. We wrapped up and headed towards our own busy schedule.
This is one trek which offers complete package of canyoning, trekking, rock climbing, rappelling, sliding, wading through water and also overnight stay under open sky and overnight camping. Any time of year is good to trek sandhan valley, but as per my experience I would suggest winter season i.e. December-March.
Had an amazing experience and always looking forward for an extraordinary experience.....
